WHO WE BUILD FOR
We build for people who refuse to choose between adventure and comfort. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice a quiet ride for freedom. You shouldn’t wake up to cold floors because you’re off-grid. You shouldn’t skip a hot shower because you’re in the mountains.
This isn’t about roughing it. It’s about having a second home that goes anywhere—with the comfort, reliability, and peace of mind you’d never compromise on at home.
WHY WE EXIST
After years of repairing poorly-built vans, we saw the same failures over and over:
that fail in the middle of nowhere
hidden behind beautiful finishes
that compromise safety and handling
that work in showrooms but fail on the road
Most van builders optimize for the Instagram post. We optimize for the reality: the dirt road in February, the week-long desert trip in July, the 5-year ownership experience, the eventual resale value.
OUR SOLUTION
Exploration Vans was founded on a simple premise: if boats need marine-certified electricians, why don’t vans?
A van is just a boat that hasn’t met water yet. Same vibration loads. Same temperature swings. Same moisture exposure. Same electrical complexity.
So in 2021, we became the first ABYC Certified Marine Electrician van builder in the country. That certification changed everything.

THE DIFFERENCE
Most van builders use automotive or RV standards. Both were designed for different use cases.
Automotive standards assume professional installation in climate-controlled factories with minimal owner modification.
RV standards assume seasonal use, shore power access, and regular professional maintenance.
Constant vibration and movement
Extreme temperature fluctuations
Moisture exposure and salt air
Owner operation without immediate service access
Systems that must work perfectly when you're miles from help
WHO BUILDS YOUR VAN
Nick didn’t start building vans to follow a trend. He started because he saw a gap between what customers needed and what the industry was delivering.
The answer was marine engineering standards. Boats face the same challenges as vans—and they’ve been solving them for decades.
Today, Nick personally oversees the engineering of every Exploration Van. He applies ABYC marine electrical standards to every build, calculates every weight distribution, and tests every system before delivery.
"I want to solve the problem more than you want it solved. If something fails, I need to know immediately—because that failure becomes my R&D for the next three vans I'm building."
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We design for the electrical failure that never happens
We plan for the moisture intrusion that never develops
We calculate the weight distribution you never have to think about
We test climate systems for temperatures you’ll rarely encounter
We provide support for problems you’ll (hopefully) never have
ABYC certified standards mean tinned copper wire, proper routing and securing, marine-grade components, and systematic labeling. Zero electrical failures in 8 years proves it works.
Every van is weighed before delivery. We don't guess—we prove you're under GVW. Your safety depends on it.
You don't need unlimited options. You need an expert who's solved this 36 times. Our semi-custom approach gives you flexibility without paralysis.
Hydronic heated floors rated to -20°F. AC systems tested to 115°F+. Moisture barriers that prevent the invisible problems that destroy resale value.
3-year / 36,000-mile coverage backed by personal service. If we can't fix it remotely, we fly to you. (It's only happened twice in 8 years.)
